A graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minnesota, Adam Schwarze is working toward a master of liberal arts (ALM) degree with certificates in nuclear deterrence and international security from Harvard Extension School. Adam Schwarze’s studies focus on Middle Eastern topics and counterinsurgency.

As part of its mission to offer Harvard-caliber continuing education at accessible price points, Harvard Extension School invites students to earn graduate certificates in a number of fields. The international security graduate certificate provides students with a broad understanding of globalization and its implications for security and foreign policy. More than 80 percent of enrolled students pursue the certificate while working full-time, and 95 percent self-report that they would recommend the program to others.

An international security certificate supports career advancement by helping students broaden their perspectives on new systems of conflict management, trade, human rights, and economic development among international organizations and nation-states. Students can also choose to focus on specific areas such as political risk assessment or nuclear weapons, or in geographical areas such as the Middle East.
